After escaping her violent stepfather, Nancy (Louise Brooks) disguises herself as a boy and goes on the run. She meets a kindly drifter and together they ride the rails through stunning American landscapes. Alternately action-packed and lyrical, and with a nail-biting final scene set atop a speeding train, Beggars of Life is an American classic.
