Boozy, jazz-loving Roxie Hart kills her deceitful boyfriend in cold blood and winds up in prison with fellow murderess Velma Kelly. Based on a real life 1924 crime, the legendary Cecil B. DeMille created one of the 1920s most entertaining, vivacious films - fifty years before Kander & Ebb would go on to use the same story for their Broadway musical.

With live piano accompaniment.

Phyllis Haver gives an astoundingly fine performance as the redoubtable Roxie Hart. This film may deal lightly with trials and juries, but there is throughout an element of truth in the action..it is a production that makes the most of the predicaments of a woman who has fired off a pistol in the heat of temper
