Dragnet Girl

  • Showroom CInema 15 Paternoster Row Sheffield, England, S1 2BX United Kingdom (map)

Yasujirō Ozu'’s cool and clever take on the American gangster genre, Dragnet Girl follows tough-talking good-time gal Tokiko and her small-time hoodlum boyfriend Joji through the smoky pool halls and boxing clubs of Yokohama. This is a great introduction to Ozu's distinctive and visually beautiful style of film making. This screening will be accompanied by the premiere performance of a new score for harp by celebrated silent film harpist Elizabeth-Jane Baldry.

Directed by Yasujiro Ozu, Japan, 1933, 100 mins.
