Ivor Novello in Man Without Desire

Count Vittorio Dandolo (Ivor Novello) is grieving for his lover who has been cruelly murdered by her husband. Unable to bear the pain, his magician friend puts him into suspended animation. Awaking 200 years later, he finds the experiment has had unexpected consequences. This sumptuous drama of love and frustrated desire in 18th century Venice is also one of the most odball films you'll ever see.

You can see Ivor Novello in The Lodger at Abbeydale Picture House the evening before, complete with the premiere of Neil Brand's new orchestral score played live by Orchestra of St Paul's.
